Knowledge of expecting the savior (5)
A person asked Imam Sadiq1:
\"How can we be a real, true expectant?\" Imam taught him a supplication in response.
\"اللّهم
عرّفنی نفسک فإنّک ان لم تعرفنی نفسک لم اعرف رسولک، اللّهم عرّفنی رسولک فإنّک ان لم تعرفنی رسولک لم اعرف حجّتک، اللّهم عرّفنی حجّتک فإنّک ان لم تعرفنی حجّتک ظللت عن دینی.\"
\"O, Lord! Make me understand your essence, if you don\'t, I won\'t understand your
prophet. O, Lord! Make me familiar with your prophet, (introduce your prophet to me) if you don\'t, I won\'t understand your imam (Allah\'s authority). O, Lord! Make me familiar with your imam, if you don\'t, I would go astray (of, in my religion).\"
In the present era, to understand Imam (the leader?) is a means to understand Imam Mahdi. It is not only (knowing) his essence and his character but also his actions and his deed. We should understand (know) the savior thoroughly (Imam Mahdi) before his reappearance; which includes two aspects
1- To recognize the events before and after the advent, like the rising of Sofyani.
2- To understand Imam Mahdi and his essence. One who hasn\'t understood his Imam Mahdi,
although he supplicates for his reappearance time and time again, he may not be able to exist (live) in his government; as some people could not endure the holy prophet and Imam Ali\'s just government.(Since the true justice tasted bitter to these greed cruel people)
Imam\'s knowledge:
We should notice that Imam Mahdi\'s knowledge is an intuitive one; meaning that unlike
ordinary people, Imam Mahdi is sure about his knowledge and his knowledge is certain, no doubt about it. We should habituate ourselves to obey Imam Mahdi\'s commands willingly and unconditionally.
Imam\'s power:
His power is exactly the exalted God\'s power, a piece of God\'s power but under God\'s
dominance, that is to say if God doesn\'t permit, Imam won\'t have any authority. It is a wrong idea to hold that (it is wrong to think that) any of the twelve Imam\'s power is less than the former one and / the prophet. All their abilities are the same.
Imam Mahdi has two kinds of reappearance:
1- special
2- common
If a person doesn\'t comprehend Imam Mahdi\'s special reappearance, he would disagree with
him during the common one.
There is a principle in Islamic philosophy:
\"النّهایات ترجع الی البدایات\"
\"The results refer to the things which we first built in our mind. If we don\'t make our minds
ready to accept Imam Mahdi at the moment, we can\'t (won\'t) understand his final common reappearance. As our prophet said: \"I have been appointed prophet before Adam\'s creation.\"
In order to make our minds ready for the common reappearance, we should always imagine a society in which Imam Mahdi has reappeared and, supervising our deeds.
At the last part of the time, there will be absolute monotheism and nullification, i.e. the best
and the worst will be told from each other (distinguished and separated) and there won\'t be an average. So we can experience (taste) the especial reappearance if we reach the pure monotheism
